Workshops
Discover OCEP workshops this summer in Charleston and Newport!
Become an OCEP trained teacher! We provide dynamic professional development workshops for Oregon teachers in which we share and model OCEP field trip best practices and resources. In addition to engaging in hands on field experiences, teachers gain access to a professional learning community, coastal education kits, and funding to support student field experiences.
Upcoming Workshops:
Please visit the Northwest Aquatic and Marine Educators News and Events Page for more information and to register for current OCEP workshops. You can also access other great opportunities offered by NAME.
In Person Workshops:
- Day long inland or coast based workshops
- Multi-day coastal based workshops
- Hands-on presentations
We offer different formats for our in person training program to reach a variety of educators. These range from short presentations at regional professional conferences, like the NAME Annual Conference, to one day and multi-day workshops. All of our opportunities are built around the needs of integrated teachers or science teachers working in either elementary, middle, or high school grade bands. One day workshops typically focus on a particular topic from OCEP modules and will include a hands-on outdoor component. Multi-day workshops provide the opportunity to practice inquiry and experience a variety of field sites and topics. These workshops foster relationships between our attendees and offer substantial time to plan an integrated unit for the next school year.
Webinars and Distance Learning
Consider tuning in to OCEP from your computer screen! We offer web-based trainings on a variety of topics related to coastal education. We will be piloting a series of interactive webinars, “Coastal Science Conversations,” with the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, a leader in interactive distance learning through their Ecosystems on the Edge program as well as our OCEP partner institutions.
