2020 Registration Information
UPDATE—Given the ongoing uncertainty due to COVID-19 around in-person gatherings and travel, we are sorry to inform you that the 2020 NAME-CaNOE Ocean Education Conference will not be held this August. We are planning on rescheduling the conference for next summer in 2021, and will send out more information on dates and location as soon as possible. In the meantime, our organizations are exploring alternative options to ensure that we remain connected, encouraged, and enlightened as we approach the Ocean Decade.
Registration Options
Full Conference Registration—includes all conference sessions and lunches from Sunday afternoon, August 16 through Thursday lunch, August 20, as well as the Awards Banquet and Auction on Wednesday night.
Half Conference Registration—includes all conference sessions and lunches for two consecutive days, plus the option to join us on the field trips! Choose one of the following options:
- Sun-Tue: Sunday afternoon, August 16 through Tuesday lunch, August 18
- Tue-Thu: Tuesday evening, August 18 through Thursday lunch, August 20 including the Awards Banquet and Auction on Wednesday night
Single-day Registration—includes all sessions and lunch only on the day registered. Available for Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
Membership Renewal
Registering as a member does not include NAME membership renewal. Please add your membership renewal during registration, if desired.
Registration Fees
We know that many of you need to budget for the upcoming conference, so we are providing the estimated registration fees for your convenience. Please note that in today’s uncertain financial climate, these fees are subject to change before registration opens.
NAME members and US non-members should register through NAME’s registration system. CaNOE members and non-members wishing to pay in Canadian funds should register through CaNOE’s registration system. All fees listed in this table are in $USD.

Lodging
Conference registration does not include lodging, which can be purchased during registration and includes breakfasts and dinners. Lodging information can be found on our Lodging & Travel page.
Cancellation Policy:
- Cancellations submitted by August 5, 2020 will be refunded.
- No refunds for cancellations after August 5, 2020.
If you are interested in attending the conference but are hesitant for financial reasons, we encourage you to apply for a scholarship. The annual NAME conference is organized with the purpose of bringing together a community of educators, researchers, students and citizen scientists who are passionate about marine and aquatic education; a limited number of scholarships and bursaries may be provided to those who would not attend simply because of the cost.
