Workshops
Become an OCEP trained teacher! We provide dynamic professional development workshops for Oregon teachers in which we share and model OCEP field trip best practices and resources. In addition to engaging in hands on field experiences, teachers gain access to a professional learning community, coastal education kits, and funding to support student field experiences.
Upcoming Workshops
August 22 - 24, 2012 in Newport, Oregon
Join the Oregon Coast Education Program with Stephanie Wagner (Portland State University Center for Science Education) for a 3-day workshop in some of Oregon’s most outstanding coastal settings between Newport and Charleston. Participants will explore through hands on learning along Oregon’s coastline while discovering how to best incorporate outdoor field experiences into your classroom. We will share teaching modules designed to provide teachers from coastal and non-coastal areas of the state with tools, curriculum, resources, and techniques for linking the aquatic world from watershed to the coast and ocean.
The Oregon Coast Education Program (OCEP) works with Oregon educators to engage students in meaningful watershed education experiences designed to involve classes in stewardship actions through a project-based learning model. Participants will engage in a variety of outdoor based coastal activities through a workshop designed to model the Preparation, Action, and Reflection phases that are integral to best practices in field-based education.
Workshop will begin at Noon on Wednesday 8/22 and wrap up at 2pm on Friday 8/24 in Newport, Oregon
