Conference Strands:

Diversity

Do your programs reflect the diverse communities of your area? How do you make sure your class curriculum is culturally sensitive and relevant?  Are you working with minorities or underserved populations?  Share your tips and techniques to fully engage these populations in aquatic sciences.

Stewardship

Share how to transform your class or local community into stewards. Community action and citizen science programs are a new wave in teaching aquatic sciences.  Share success stories and lessons learned.  What tools do learners need to become the next generation of stewards?

STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics

Do you use technology to reach new audiences? How do you use art in your programming to teach aquatic science, engineering, and mathematics? Share stories, resources, and example work of how components of STEAM are transforming your classroom or program.

SeaFaire

SeaFaire is a marketplace of ‘ideas’ where individuals, agencies, organizations and vendors can share educational programs, equipment, curricula, and other materials appropriate for marine and aquatic educators.

Auction

The annual NAME auction is one of the highlights of the conference….a chance to have fun, bid on really great items, and raise money for our mini-grant scholarship fund!

Have an auction item to donate? Here are some ideas for great “aquatic” auction items: jewelry; outdoor gear; any and all crafts/artwork; gift certificates for whale watching, fishing trips, bird watching, cabin/hotel/motel accommodations, or guided outdoor trips. There may be treasures in your attic just waiting for the NAME Auction! Solicitation of auction items on behalf of NAME is highly appreciated.
